Last week I tried Sustainable Fashion Tips…spent like, $300 trying to be eco-chic tbh.

Thrift Store Finds
Went thrifting. Scored a vintage Levi’s jacket for $25, but ngl, sifting thru racks is exhausting.
Like, I was sweating. Did find a cute silk scarf tho, $8. Worth it. R29 Curated Collections: Your Style Upgrade Starts
Capsule Wardrobe Fail
Tried the whole capsule wardrobe thing. Supposed to minimize waste or whatever.
I totally messed this up. Ended up buying more stuff trying to create it. Whoops.
Eco-Friendly Fabrics
Looked into organic cotton and linen. Found a cute organic cotton tee at Everlane for $38.
It’s soft tho, so maybe worth the extra $$?
Rent, Don’t Buy
Rented a dress for my cousin’s wedding. From Rent the Runway. Cost $75 for four days.
Way cheaper than buying something I’d wear once. Plus, felt fancy af, lowkey.
DIY & Upcycling
Attempted to upcycle an old shirt into a tote bag. Pinterest made it look so easy.
It’s… functional? But def not Vogue material. Vogue would laugh. I need lessons. Saw some upcycling tutorials on YouTube that seem promising.
Also tried tie-dyeing an old white tee with natural dyes (avocado pits!). Turned out kinda brown, not gonna lie. Def a learning process.
Conscious Brands
Researched some sustainable brands. Found this brand Reformation, dresses are like $200 tho.
Basically out of my budget rn. Vogue loves them. Someday.
Also, PACT Apparel has good basics, tees around $30. More realistic.
Clothing Swaps
Organized a clothing swap with my friends. Got rid of stuff I didn’t wear anymore and scored a free sweater.
Super fun and a great way to refresh my closet without spending money. Def recommend.
Fast Fashion Detox
Trying to avoid fast fashion. Harder than it sounds. Zara’s sales are tempting tho.

Ethical Accessories
Invested in a few ethical accessories. Got a recycled plastic phone case for $20.
Small changes, but they add up, right?
Laundry Habits
Started washing my clothes less often and using cold water. Saves energy and helps clothes last longer.
Simple but effective. Plus, dry shampoo is my new best friend. Drybar ($27).
Repair & Mend
Learned basic sewing skills. Fixed a ripped seam on my favorite jeans instead of throwing them away.
Felt super accomplished. YouTube tutorials are a lifesaver.
Secondhand Shoes
Bought a pair of secondhand boots on Poshmark. Got them for $40, originally $150.
Such a good deal. Just gotta sanitize them thoroughly.
Support Local
Checked out some local boutiques that focus on sustainable and ethically made clothing. Found a cute jumpsuit for $80.

The Verdict
Sustainable fashion is a journey, not a destination. Made some wins, def some fails. But learning as I go.
It’s more expensive upfront, but hopefully saves money (and the planet) in the long run.
