Angus Cloud, Star of HBO’s “Euphoria,” Passes Away at 25
Angus Cloud, the talented actor renowned for his portrayal of Fezco “Fez” O’Neill, the drug dealer in HBO’s acclaimed series “Euphoria,” tragically passed away at the age of 25 in Oakland, Calif.
In a poignant statement, Cloud’s family expressed their profound sorrow: “Today, we bid farewell to an extraordinary soul, Angus Cloud. As an artist, friend, brother, and son, he held a special place in our hearts. Just last week, he mourned the loss of his father and wrestled with the burden of this grief. The only solace we find is knowing that Angus is now reunited with his beloved dad, his closest confidant. Angus was candid about his mental health struggles, and we hope his passing serves as a reminder to others that they are not alone and should never battle this silently.”
The family continued, “Let the world cherish his wit, laughter, and boundless love for all. During this trying time, we request privacy as we cope with this devastating loss.”
Angus Cloud gained fame for his remarkable performance as Fez in HBO’s Emmy-winning teen drama “Euphoria,” where he played a prominent role throughout the first two seasons. His talent extended beyond television, with notable appearances in films such as “North Hollywood” (2021) and “The Line” (2023).
Recently, he was set to star alongside Melissa Berrera in a chilling new horror film by Universal Pictures, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for “Scream 6.” Additionally, Cloud showcased his artistry in several music videos, including Noah Cyrus’ “All Three,” Juice WRLD’s “Cigarettes,” and Becky G and Karol G’s “Miamiii.”
In a tribute at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event, Cloud shared his humble beginnings and how he was discovered on the streets for his breakthrough role in “Euphoria.” His heartfelt dedication to Fez dispelled misconceptions about his craft: “It bothers me when people assume it’s easy, just being yourself. Why don’t you give it a try? It’s not that simple. I brought my all to the character. Believe what you want, but it’s not about me.”
“Euphoria” casting director Jennifer Venditti echoed praise for Angus, emphasizing that he deserved more credit for his exceptional work.
Angus Cloud’s portrayal of Fez endeared him to fans of “Euphoria,” and his untimely passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. HBO expressed deep sadness in a statement, recognizing him as an immensely talented and cherished member of the “Euphoria” and HBO family. Their heartfelt condolences go out to his friends and family during this challenging time.
Born Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, he attended Oakland School of the Arts alongside his “Euphoria” co-star Zendaya. Angus’s acting journey began unexpectedly while working at a Brooklyn restaurant when he landed the role in “Euphoria,” marking his debut as an actor.
